This is supposed to be a happy occasion. Let's not bicker and argue over who killed who.

I will vote for the one most often quoted in conversation ever since I was in high school.

I'm the idiot with the soft spot for "Meaning of Life". I was introduced via "Holy Grail" and took a long time to get to "Life of Brian", but "Meaning of Life" was one of the first DVDs I owned and I watched it relentlessly. It's got the best songs, some of the best sketches, and the Crimson Permanent Assurance; you can't go past it.

In middle and high schools, Holy Grail was my favorite and I can still quote many passages.

In early college, Meaning of Life was my favorite.

For the last decade, it's Life of Brian.

All of them are quotable. All of them are hilarious.  In the Canon, they chose between Holy Grail and Life of Brian to put in one of the greatest movies of all time.  This is an impossible choice.

Holy Grail
Life of Brian

And Now For Something Completely Different
The Meaning of Life

I know I've seen Live at Hollywood Bowl but I guess I never scored/ranked it. My only lasting impression is that the sketches were better in their original form, but I'd really have to see it again.

Gaaaaaaaaaarrrhhhh!!!!

How dare you? this is the unanswerable question. The one I've never been able to put to rest. How can I decide between Grail and Brian? Why do this to me, oh fiendish pastor of hell? You naughty boy!

Life of Brian
Holy Grail

Meaning of Life
Something Completely Different

How was this never asked in the forum before? What were we doing with our time?

I like how you assume everyone's seen them all btw. Shame the profane into enlightenment.

I've only seen the two big ones, and I'm surprised by how difficult this question seems to be for people. Life of Brian and Holy Grail are very different, most people I've discussed this with IRL tend to have a strong preference between the two. For me, it's clearly Life of Brian: it's possible Holy Grail has more laughs, and it certainly has more quotable lines, but Life of Brian hangs together much better as a film, whereas Holy Grail is really just a series of great sketches. Also, "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" is one of the best endings to any film ever.
