Bon Appétit!

Food is everywhere in film and whether you're inspired to try a new recipe, go to a certain restaurant, have a theme party, or any other film food journey, tell us about it! :)

here's an example...

This weekend, my 13 year old and I were watching Leap Year and during the story, Declan teaches Anna how to make Coq au Vin.

I've never made Coq au Vin, so decided to give it a try. I browsed through a handful of recipes to get the gist of it. I didn't have wine, but did have some lingonberry jam from IKEA! :)) I made a beef broth with it and a little vinegar and marinated the chicken for a few hours. Then I chopped things and fried things and reduced the marinade way down and threw it all in the oven. It turned out really great! Robust and just a hint of sweet.

Leap Year is fairly forgettable, but now I have a new way to make chicken!

Coq au lingonberry jam doesn't quite have the same ring to it. I don't even know what the thing is.

I am trying to think of specific dishes I made after watching a movie. With all the Americana I watch, there is plenty of American things I have made that were inspired by movies and such but not necessarily one particular movie.

I have recently tried to make ramen but it was not inspired by anything other than passed by the Asian market the other day. I am sure it features in some Miyazaki movies though.

Leap Year is fairly forgettable ...

Not when you and your friend build up an irrational hatred of the film, making it your go-to reference for a bad movie!

The chicken looked great, though. :)

You are so right. I should have written coq sans vin.

It probably doesn't count as a film, but you missed a great scene from Magical Mystery Tour.
