Some people will seek out Worst Movies because they take very little time compared to a book.

Huh?

This. Reading is time consuming, I don't waste my free time with stuff I don' like.

That said, I quite disliked The Circle last year, which led me to not finish it. I loved Eragon when I read it as a teen though.

Pat the Bunny-- No stakes! Where is the character development!
The Holy War by John Bunyan-- Like Pilgrim's Progress, but more boring and more prejudice
Chariots of the Gods-- Really?  What were we thinking in the 70s?  What dribble!
Gerald's Game-- Misery with even more misery.
Dolores Claiborne-- The book that made me stop reading Stephen King

The Wheel of Time now comes to mind. I didn't care for the first one, and as I read on, my indifference grew into utter contempt.

Battlefield Earth, and yes I did finish it.

There have been some so bad I did not finish them, but they were so long ago I have forgotten the titles.

The worst book I've ever read is probably Eragon. I was very into fantasy at the time, and read plenty of mediocre stuff, but Eragon was just laughably terrible. To be fair, it might have been a poor translation (I know the French version of A Game of Thrones is not great for example), but still.

I loved the series when I was a teen. I still remember it fondly. I might not have noticed bad writing, but what about the story makes it terrible?

I couldn't tell you. All I remember is I hated it and dragons are involved.

I get that dragons are a overused trope, but that seems a bit excessive.

This, but I got halfway through it. I've known people swear it was great, but I couldn't be bothered to finish it. I think there's a good reason why it spawned one of the worst films ever made.
