Here's the full list of titles I marked as ineligible due to Netflix/Amazon availability:
...

That list doesn't include Ausma which you marked as ineligible. Could you clarify?

Looks like Ausma was initially released in 2015, which, given the Filmspot three year window, would render it ineligible in 2018. It was eligible in 2015, 2016, and 2017 was it's final year of eligibility, regardless of availability.

D'oh! I was just doing the plus 3, but forgot about 2015 itself.

Hmm, yeah, that's a tricky one. I didn't realize Nocturama had been on Netflix. Here's the full list of titles I marked as ineligible due to Netflix/Amazon availability:

Rat Film

I don't think digital rentals should count as availability. Just Amazon Prime/Netflix Instant. Digital rentals are an option of last resort for me in any event. Fine for catching up on actual nominees, but almost never something I seek out. Digital rentals are the streaming equivalent of a film that releases on 50 screens. Prime/Netflix (but not Hulu IMO, just on my perception of their relative subscriber bases and the fact I don't subscribe) are more like 100+ screens.

P.S. Is there a trend toward films simply not getting DVD releases? I have so many films in my Netflix DVD queue that I've had there for years with no sign of a DVD release. Admittedly I haven't checked if some have gotten digital releases (some of the newer ones certainly have), but it seems weird that any film wouldn't get at least a digital release in this day and age, no matter how obscure.

That used to be my approach, but I feel like it generated a lot of FYC clutter with respect to films that were already as readily available as they were ever going to get. But if a movie like Rat Film appears in the new release section of my local video store this summer, we can definitely revisit its eligibility.

I assume The Breadwinner is 2018 eligible? Now streaming on Netflix US.

'Tis! Though with Isle of Dogs coming out, the Animated Film category is somewhat extraneous this year.

We should post a Deathmatch before either film is released. See which has higher expectations.
