1. La Ciénaga
2. The Headless Woman
Both films left me doubting my initial reaction. Definitely plan to take a closer look at her style and watch The Holy Girl too.

La Ciénaga
The Holy Girl
(Shoutout to the theremin)
Zama
The Headless Woman
One of the most mysterious, but still vicious. Seems to bleed talent from every pore.

Zama
(Lucrecia Martel, 2017)
The first two-thirds of this movie are a chore. Then
young Jack Nicholson
shows up and things start to come alive — but it was definitely a case of too little, too late, for me. The visuals of the last act are often lovely and appealingly surreal — especially the Filmspot-worthy shot of
the boat parting the green moss in the water
— but, even then, I didn't think the film ever rose above the level of just "interesting." I somehow agree with both valmz and AliceGuyBlache in
this thread
, despite their disparate responses to the film.

I might remember it all differently tomorrow.
