One of my favorite films about the subject of marriage. It is an extremely visual film so it's interesting that you got that part of the film inadvertently enhanced for you.

Yes, I'm going to take my need to pay extra attention to the visuals as a big win! :)

The Mortal Storm Simply one of the greatest melodramas ever. In a film released prior to the US entering World War II, the film skewers Nazism and really populist movements in general. It's an incredibly smart film, expertly setting up and executing the high stakes drama. Then of course you have Sullivan and Stewart who anchor everything. It's hard not to love watching them. It's a movie that is both cruel and sad but also filled me with warmth and hope. It really runs the emotional gamut. Yes its sentimental and maybe heavy handed, but also extremely effecting. It's one I will want to revisit often.

9/10

I first remember hearing about this movie about a decade ago on this forum and how much praise it, and Borzage got. I don't know why it took so long for me to watch it, but this was the little push I needed. Incredible film, and happy to finally have seen it!

I can't think of what to add beside this.  Just a solid film in every possible way.  I'll have to watch it again, but it might go on my list of "perfect" films, one's that are technically, thematically, creatively flawless.

Torn between Pima, Life of Brian, and Holy Motors. I think Life of Brian is probably the biggest shame of them all, but in a life full of shame, who knows which direction I might go?

Have you seen Pima in 3D? Is 3D a big part of it?

Hmmm.  I don't honestly think you'd care for My Name is Khan.  Blinded by the Light is especially fun for Springsteen fans, but it's pretty good otherwise, as well.  Your Sister's Sister is one of the best of the mumblecore films. Stations of the Cross is thoughtful and experimental.  But my favorite of these is Theeb, starkly beautiful and dramatic.
