Top 5 Comfort Movies
« on: October 01, 2018, 01:37:53 PM »
Inspired by this Indiewire critic survey:
https://www.indiewire.com/2018/10/best-comfort-movies-1202008381/

"This week’s question: The last few days have been extremely trying. And sometimes, when the world feels like it’s folding in on itself, people turn to the movies for a pick-me-up or some other kind of self-care."

1. Spirited Away/My Neighbor Totoro

2. The Big Lebowski

3. The Royal Tenenbaums

4. The Lord of the Rings Trilogy

5. Point Break

I turn to TV in these situations much more than film but I'd guess it'd be

1. Any Miyazaki, but especially the low-stakes ones like Totoro and Kiki
2. Inside Llewyn Davis, which sounds weird but I love the mood of it and I did rewatch it on a whim while sick once
3. Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain/Amelie
4. Maybe the Harry Potter movies ? I don't really love them though, aside from Azkaban, and I'm way too anal to just watch that alone.

I've wanted to watch Linda Linda Linda for years but have had trouble tracking it down other than used DVDs on Amazon for $35 or more. Is there a place to stream it?

Not that I'm aware of, but I've never searched since I have the DVD.
