This whole thing is terribly disappointing for many reasons and thus I use my vote on the game itself.

I'm stuck in a four way tie between Carrie, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Ringu and The Shining because none of those are the best version of their own stories.

So in the meantime I'm going with Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

P.S. Se7en is 100% horror.

ETA: I voted TCM out because it is awful, not some obnoxious pedantic point of whether it is horror.

Okay, let's get rid of The Thing.

There are films remaining that I've rated lower... The Phantom of the Opera, Hellraiser and Scream, to be precise (though I haven't seen the latter two in ages). But I confess there is a reactionary element to my vote. This movie gets such adoration heaped upon it that I don't understand. Maybe it's because I'm not a big Kurt Russell guy?

You won't hear me complaining. I'm big on Kurt Russell and John Carpenter and while the film's effects are some of the greatest of all time, I don't get the adoration for much beyond that. (Much because the score and lighting are also cool, but that's it.)

I'm considering Eyes Without a Face, but would like to give it a 2nd chance. Other possibilities...
The Innocents - watching this again this month
Repulsion
The Shining - Bondo might do this for me
Videodrome

The Thing works for me for many reasons. The cast, the aesthetics, just the general idea of a monster than can take on the form of what it kills. Plus those special effects are possibly the best done in any horror film (or perhaps any film ever). But it's not an all-time favorite film for me, so I'm not too sad to see it eliminated.

Yeah, that's pretty much my feeling about it too.
