Despite not having a bunch of movies that I loved (yet), there are still a good number of movies I enjoyed watching so far this year.

Where's The Perfection fall?

Gah! I always miss something. It's because I'm bad at keeping my letterboxd up to date. To answer your question, between Horror Noire and Late Night.

Seeing Hellboy so low makes me sad. I decided to skip it.

Makes me sad too. It's probably a bit better than the stuff directly above it, but the emotion pain was too much to keep it from the bottom of my list for now.

Here are the ten films I've liked the most through the first half of 2019, in no order except for the order in which they are in:

1. Climax
2. The Beach Bum
3. The Souvenir (Part One)
4. Under The Silver Lake
5. The Farewell
6. The Art Of Self-Defense
7. Deadwood: The Movie
8. The Last Black Man In San Francisco
9. Teen Spirit
10. Glass

I wrote about them in a bit more detail on my blog.

An interesting stat: half of these are A24 films.

Is I Was at Home, But a good introduction to Schanelec? I know Places in Cities is your favorite, but I was thinking of looking for The Dreamed Path as an intro because it's from this Decade.

I notice you haven't seen Mektoub, My Love: Intermezzo. Any comment on the strong reaction to it when it premiered? Is it a film you'll be watching no matter what?

Definitely adding Beanpole. Looks great and it's supposed to play here at the end of the month.

Wish that I liked Beanpole and Portrait as much as everyone else, but they are both still good/definitely worth watching.

I wish my viewing habits were as eclectic as goodguy's year. I feel like I see less and less off the beaten path films ever year.

Well, it's the first of her films to get US distribution, so people who know these things seem to think of it as... more accessible, I suppose. Both this and The Dreamed Path are a bit different from her previous work, but I can't really imagine you warming up to any of them.

I pretty much tuned out most of the negative buzz. The first film is simply too strong to not see for myself.
