Going to second these, will add more later when I get around to Post 2 in the PFF thread. I'm going to call out, specifically, everything about
Marriage Story, how mesmerizing
Dogs Don't Wear Pants is, especially that lead actor, and
Deerskin being so deserving of those nominations. Dujardin is fantastic, and I hated everything about
The Artist, the soundtrack is really good, there is likely only one film with a better line (
Beach Bum, and even that I'm not sure about, because that line CINECAST!ing crushes it every. single. time.), and please let us have a Best Jacket category. This has had me on Grailed, Etsy, and eBay looking for that same Killer Style.
This ended up being me talking about
Deerskin a lot, but I mostly came here with the intention of highlighting
Marriage Story. While the 'big' Netflix films have mostly missed for me (though I did like
The Irishman a good deal, it's just probs the worst of
The Departed and beyond Marty), this one really is remarkable. Not sure if ScarJo has ever been better (maybe in
Her?), and while I don't think it's Noah or Driver at their best, that's not saying a lot when you consider how great they have been.
