Filmspots 2018: Official Nominations
« on: February 12, 2019, 10:01:59 AM »
This will be a countdown of the ninety films that factored most heavily in the voting. For each film, I'll list out any nominations it received plus where it ranked in other categories where it received at least two votes and placed within the top twenty.

Please feel free to comment in this thread during the countdown. I'll be spacing out the list to allow conversation to develop.

The following films appeared on just two or three ballots (the bolded films appeared on three) but without enough concentrated support to make the final countdown:

American Animals
Gemini
The Guilty
Hearts Beat Loud
How to Talk to Girls at Parties
In the Fade
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom
The Little Stranger
The Other Side of the Wind
Private Life
Suspiria
Teen Titans Go! To the Movies
Transit
Unsane
Venom

Okay, the stage is set. I'll kick off the actual countdown two hours from now.

I'm sad Suspiria didn't get much love, although I didn't give it a whole ton either, so I am in part to blame.

I nominated it for Best Sound. Oh well.

I take it this means Mary Poppins Returns won’t be empty handed, so someone else saw it and liked it besides Junior and me.

I was 10 of the single ballot films, a couple of the 2-3.

I look forward to pix’s annual incantation of “When we love a film we really love a film” but maybe this year was more diffuse.

What, Early Man didn't get any other nomination than mine?!!!!!

Seriously, I thought someone would have given The Hate U Give more nominations.  And I'm disappointed that How to Talk to Girls at Parties didn't get enough, but I didn't promote it at all, when I should have.
