The Mandalorian

I feel like this one is going to want its own thread.

I certainly liked the first episode, and was surprised by how short it was, expecting an hour and getting less than 40 minutes. I'm not geeky enough to get into the Star Wars lore and all the hidden references and meanings, but I am production savvy enough to watch how Star Wars looks on a smaller budget. If you compare it to the movies, there are visibly some corners cut in the effects and production design, though the costuming and make-up is of the same high quality. However, it looks exceptional for a television show. Besides, TV is more about characters than spectacle and having people like Carl Weathers and Werner Herzog means everything.

Yeah, that lat bit was my takeaway as well. Especially when the main character is a man of so few words, having people that just ooze chemistry and gravitas is key. They do a good job here, even with the Nick Nolte alien and the least Taika-like Taika character yet (who I hope returns either as the same character or another unit if the same type).

Have we ever seen any other members of Yoda's race in the SW universe before? He was so cute!

It's been confusing to read people refer to the baby as Baby Yoda because this takes place After Ep. 6, which means if it is Yoda he's revere aging and if it's not, is it related to Yoda? How many of his species are there?

They never mention the name of the race so I think people are just using the name for reference.

It's been a while since I've seen Werner so i didn't recognize him straight away but as soon as i heard him i thought, "shit is that Werner Herzog?". Definitely a good addition to the cast.

When do we think he takes his helmet off?

Lol.  ;D

I was skeptical that the second episode would maintain the action/energy of the first—happy to be proven wrong here.

Same. I'm fascinated at how they're doing this show. Short episodes, Nick Nolte alien, so many puppets. It probably shouldn't work as well as it does. The score is so good too.
