I thought it was odd when I listened to it too. The one and only time I listened to it front to back. As much as the popular songs are unforgettable, the unpopular songs I thought were terrible. I've come to realize I have terrible taste in music and my favorite albums would be few and far between a list like this.

To me there are no bad songs on Pet Sounds. It is pretty close to a perfect album, certainly in my top 10.

This is the informed opinion.

As for Pink Floyd, perhaps Dark Side wasn't in the Top 25 because it can't be determined which Pink Floyd album is best.  If it were my list, Dark Side, The Wall and WYWH would all be in the top 30.

Also, I don't envy Sandy on this one, there's a lot of garbage on that list too.

:))

Now you tell me!

Even though I don't have the same affinity for Pet Sounds that I know some of my fellow Filmspotters do, listening to it through their "ears" made the experience much more rewarding. Same goes for Dylan, Rolling Stones, Stevie Wonder...

You all broaden my music appreciation horizons. <3

Never understood why PET SOUNDS is always ranked so high, its good but not 2nd greatest ever

The few hip hop/rap albums I saw on there are pretty good

It's ranked so high because it was a game changer for the Beatles when they heard it. It was the carrot on a stick to up their game and create the Sgt. Pepper album.

One thing though, it's really not a Beach Boys album. It's a Brian Wilson & The Wrecking Crew album, with Beach Boys vocals. Only Carl Wilson played on it. Hal Blaine played the drums, not Dennis.

Pet Sounds is better than any album The Beatles recorded by a wide margin. Would take a number of Dylan albums over it though, probably, but it is fantastic.

Other thoughts: The College Dropout is better than Late Registration, though both are too low. Ridiculous that My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy isn't 1: on this list, and, 2: not in the number one spot.

Hip hop in general seems underrepresented, but I also don't think Sandy would care much for it. She should listen to Lauryn Hill, though. I think she'd like her.

I do like Lauren Hill, but have not listened to much of her work.

FLY, I will listen to My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy just for you. :)
