Downton Abbey: The way everything slowly reveals to the build of the Abbey.

Midsommar: More of a prologue but the storytelling is masterful as Dani (Florence Pugh) tries to reach her troubled sister, and it all leads to a big moment that hangs over the entire film.

Marriage Story: Seems like an obvious one, but the two letters that never get read out loud.

HIGH FLYING BIRD - Like THE SOCIAL NETWORK, Soderbergh doesn't let you even breathe before plunging you into the main conflict of a story. He drops us right in the middle of a high stakes argument between agent and client.

DARK WATERS - Haynes steals the entire opening to JAWS as a way to clue us in that he is directing this film about a class action lawsuit as a horror movie.

PORTRAIT OF A LADY ON FIRE - There is the typical lead-up to the title of the movie but no title. Okay, that's just how some movies are. But then one of her students asks the title of the painting. She replies "Portrait of a Lady on Fire" - THE TITLE OF THE FILM!!! It's such a brilliant idea that rarely happens.

3 Faces, the found footage/phone-recorded suicide video really sets the stage for what it means for a woman to pursue film and acting in Iran
