Well, these lists aren't at all intimidating!

All I'm thinking about is Wendy and Wes Anderson right now.

Are you genuinely looking forward to Bad Boys For Life?

After talking about Showgirls in another thread, we're all pretty much committed to seeing Benedetta, I'm sure.

True thing: half or more of my favorites of 2020 won't be films I'm all that conscious of now. Our Harkins cinemas here in the Valley do a good job of bringing us some excellent foreign and art house films. I wonder what they have in surprise for me in 2020.

Are you genuinely looking forward to Bad Boys For Life?

I genuinely am. The franchise was very formative for me. I grew up on Michael Bay lol! But while I am genuinely interested in the film, if I ranked them it would not seem very high when put into that context.

Did you watch 6 Underground? I did just to see him working away from big robots and it's full of reasons why I now hate him, but is bookended by two action set-pieces that could go down as career highlights.

I have not. I definitely used to be a Michael Bay apologist, but ever since the second Transformers film, I am not (still think I like the first one and all his previous work).

Now, this new Bad Boys is not Bay, so that is another thing I am curious about. To see whether they can recreate the magic of Smith, Lawrence, and what Bay brought to it with his style.

It was sorta for me, too. I loved the humor and interplay between the leads. But none of that's held up.

Strangely, I think the 8 year old me had a better taste in film than the 16 year old me. The Neverending Story > Bad Boys all day. The Secret of NIMH > basically anything I was watching in 97 or 98.

SONIC THE HEDGEHOG, THE LAST THING HE WANTED, FAST & FURIOUS 9, THE FRENCH DISPATCH... that's about it on the confirmed list.

I hope we get the new Coen. Denzel/Frances MACBETH? Yeah, sure - I just hope there's some kind of Coenesque twist to it all. Maybe we'll get that new Weerasethakul with Tilda in the lead. MEMORIA? I won't hold my breath. Nor will I hold my breath for MANK since Fincher is in the middle of his obsessive compulsive production. I expect 2021.
