FLY pretty much gets to be king of the Filmspots.

I'll be supporting Little Women for BP and using my heft to suppress PoaLoF, putting it below even KO. So close for Midsommar to take the spot it deserves. No way Parasite doesn't win.

Teproc, were you the other one besides iKeith! and my to nom Deerskin?

Also, absolutely disgusted at the lack of Beach Bum nominations.

Honeyland might be the only doc I have or will see. I will rank it at number 5, if I am able.

Imagine LBMiSF confusion may have come with how much real life inspiration was taken in writing the script, I believe I was guilty of thinking so as well.

Also excited that The Souvenir Part One was nominated.

Thank you for all the work pix and everyone else involved!

EDIT: I also saw, and I believe voted for, Hail, Satan?, which was pretty good. Really surprised AOC doc didn't make it, but I imagine it released too early in the year and AF took its momentum in a 'right out of Iowa, right to the front' sort of way.

The Last Black Man in San Francisco
Directed by Joe Talbot

Nominations
Best Adapted Screenplay

I meant do a check to make sure all the nominees belonged in their categories, but I ran out of time. Looks like this one slipped through. We'll probably need to revote in the two screenplay categories.

Yeah, sorry...I read it was based on a story by Jimmie Fails about his life as opposed to be about his life's story. Should've remedied my mistake.

It was on my ballot but only in Actor for Dujardin. Didn't think of it as a Surprise because it seemed pretty in-line with what Dupieux is known for.

Wish I'd know there was a Rocko's Modern life movie!

Children of the Sea is a decent Japanese animated film that is most notable for having an excellent Joe Hisaishi score, I briefly reviewed it here.

I saw this movie! And then completely forgot about it in my noms ballot... Would probs have been third or fourth animated.

I am once again a populist asshole.

Need to stop voting for Tarantino.  :P

I didn't! I also didn't vote for much Midsommar stuff, nor have I seen Portrait of a Lady on Fire yet. I also didn't have a whole ton of Parasite noms. Everything else, tho...

So close to best line! Killer style!

After seeing it, I'm bummed there were no acting votes for me to cast for Noemi Merlant, Adele Haenel, OR Luana Bajrami for Portrait of a Lady on Fire. It's big time acting done in a subtle, collaborative way. These are stars who don't need us all worshiping at their feet like they're stars. And while Parasite is my favorite film of 2019 by leaps and bounds, I voted Portrait of a Lady as best Non-English Language film, because it deserves at least that. Not sure if it's cool to discuss things like that here, though. If not, sorry.

I'll post my thoughts on the movie later, but if I'd seen They Shall Not Grow Old sooner it would've been on my ballot for Special Effects (joining others) and Best Sound (which I didn't see mentioned.)

I was really rooting for that Visual Effects nomination. Good call on the Sound, too.
