Just reading in the NYT that the general population will start being vaccinated in April. I've read that in the AZ draft plan, teachers are in Phase 1b, which is basically ahead of everyone but health care personnel. Looks like early next year I could be getting vaccinated, and I have no hesitation. I think if there were any serious red flags, they would have been raised in Phase 3. That's a small leap of faith in the system, but not so dissimilar to the leap I take to get any other vaccination. The potential side effects don't sound awesome, so I'll have sub plans and work for the students ready for a couple days, just in case.
To me, it's every person's right and duty to be vaccinated. Get it done, we need 70%. I'm not terribly plugged-in to public opinion, besides that maybe a month or so ago I read that people were closer to 50-50 about getting vaccinated, which is worrisome. No idea how that changes once the vaccine goes from hypothetical to available-at-Walgreens, but it's time to kick some anti-vaxxer ass, stop the fear and hysteria, and start the healing after this traumatic period of mostly needless loss.
