Feels like this is enough data that I should be able to get it, but I can't figure it out. Maybe we're missing a title actually... let's look at box-office mojo, that doesn't count as cheating, right?

Brahms: The Boy II
The Turning
The Lodge
Run
A Quiet Place Part II

The latter apparently did come out in a few theaters.

Brahms: The Boy II
The Turning
The Lodge
Run
A Quiet Place Part II
0 Correct Titles

All 5 titles have been mentioned. I was originally going to make it a Top 8, and now that you mention Turning and Brahms, all 8 titles have been suggested.

What's tripping people up is the repeated mention of a film that was released first outside the US in 2019 and is listed on Letterboxd and IMDB under that year.

Or maybe it's Underwater, which was released very early here, might have been last week of December or something.

The Invisible Man
Gretel and Hansel
The Hunt
The Platform
The Grudge

Do most popular in this context mean highest rated or most seen, or is it a mix of both? I liked The Hunt (I guess it's horror) enough, but sentiment in the theater and online seemed to fall with it being even more of a relative letdown than I thought, so I can't imagine the aggregate rating of public users being too high on something that was tepid to polarizing in its reception.

Have to imagine that Invisible Man is a hard number one, and Platform needs to be on the list given quarantine circumstances. The other three I'm having a real difficult time with.

Definitely not highest rated because that's a different filter, but also not most rated because Midsommar is listed as more popular than The Shining even though The Shining has about 200,000 more ratings, a higher rating overall and more fans.

Half of this is true.

You got one of your answers wrong 1SO. I figured you had because I was facing a logical impossibility, so I checked the answer and this:

The Invisible Man
The Hunt
The Platform
Gretel and Hansel
Underwater
4 Correct Titles
1 of them in the Correct Place

should say 4 correct titles, 2 in the correct place. I'll let someone else figure it out from there if they want.

@Fly: I think popularity is just activity, ie how many ratings, likes, reviews and how many times it was added to a list? Maybe rating also comes into account, but it's not the main factor at all. For instance the most popular title from 2016 I haven't seen is Suicide Squad, because it's the 10th most popular film overall from that year, despite quite a low rating of 2.1.

And I was being so careful.
Thanks for catching that.
