I could not find this in the top 5's. It is time for such. Your list, your choice of what is/is not Sci Fi (as always).

Going through my 2014 top 100 this would be the list for me:

The Matrix (1999)
Metropolis (1927)
Alien (1979)
Aliens (1986)
Terminator 2 (1991)

HM: Primer (2004), The City of Lost Children (1995)

Could have been on the list, but I have not deemed them Sci fi
Being John Malkovich (more a fantasy)
28 Days Later (not enough science, more about the horror)

This is always a hard category.

I probably should look at my TOP 100 but would say

Alien
2001
Children of Men (it classifies, right?)
Ex Machina
And something to be determined

This is where ratings are really tricky for me, there are so many science fiction films I like, I can only imagine doing this if you've seen like 2K or more films. But, here goes!

5. E.T.
4. Arrival
3. 2001: A Space Odyssey
2. WALL-E
1. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

HM: La Jetee, Ex Machina, and The Host

You don't find WALL-E troubling for its body shaming?
