I dunno, apart from the really obscure stuff (of course, what is obscure to me may not be to you), I'm not really too ashamed of that many movies. On another forum I'm a member of, we do a "New Years Movie Resolution" every year where we each make lists of stuff we should have seen over the years, and it's really helped me tick off some of those embarrassing nuggets. Still, here are 5 I probably should have seen:

1. Amadeus
2. Any Fellini
3. Singin' in the Rain
4. The Deer Hunter
5. The Apartment

Nunis, you're list really isn't too shameful, but Singin' in the Rain?  You've got to see that... it is without a doubt one of the greatest musicals of ALL TIME!  I will gladly lend you my copy if it means you will watch it ASAP, seriously, I will! :)

  • Not that it matters, but most of it is true.

Now here's the stupid part. I've owned the damn thing on DVD for, oh, going on five years now.

Stripes doesn't really stand up for me as a great film.  It's fun, but it makes me cringe quite a lot, and it's really not that memorable.  Plus saying that it's better than Life is Beautiful is just wrong.  Plain wrong.  On many levels. (IMO, of course.)

If you're gonna make a comedy about war, it should at least be funny.

There's (sadly) a lot that I haven't seen, but I'll just keep it to the ones that are routinely brought up as absolute classics:

5) Vertigo
4) Seven Samurai
3) Lawrence Of Arabia
2) The 400 Blows (and all of French New Wave for that matter)
1) All The Presidents Men

And for a slightly different list, the 5 dvds I own that I'm ashamed I've not seen yet

5) The Good, The Bad & The Ugly
4) Anything by Almodovar (I own about 6 or 7 of his films)

3) 8 1/2
2) Chinatown
1) The Godfather Trilogy

Edit: Have since seen ones with a strike.

I must admit that really is sad, Wilson.

I am full aware :(

I aim to fix it pretty soon though, in particular the DVD list.  Starting tonight, and hopefully have all 5 done by next week.

These three:

Stripes;
Caddyshack;
Fast Times at Ridgemont High;

are better films than these three:

LA Confidential;
Life is Beautiful;
Gandhi
No, they're not.

No, they're not.

It is pretty close... of course I violently dislike Life is Beautiful
Strikeouts are boring - besides that, they're fascist.  Throw some ground balls.  More democratic.
