Software engineer. In a few months it will be 30 years since I was first paid to write software. Wow, I must be old.

Of course here in Silicon Valley it's hard to throw a stick and not hit a software engineer.

Yikes! That wasn't long after punch cards ruled the day!!   ;) I can't really talk, I was playing with a computer not long after, although I left the programming to my brother for years. He is still better at it, but then again he also used to be one of the many computer oriented people in silicon valley.

Strikeouts are boring - besides that, they're fascist.  Throw some ground balls.  More democratic.

What was your subject/grade/age?

English and American History; seniors (year 12) down to 6th grade (I really loved this age group.)

Thanks for asking.  I haven't taught since 1998 when I married the Aussie.  He saved me.  I was ready for a lifestyle change.

My mother is an ESL teacher (well, now she's running NCLB and Head Start for her district).  She taught from K through 6th mostly.  I bet you would love her...

anyway, I'm a student (English/Creative Writing).

I would love your mother.  It's in the "teacher code" that we all love and appreciate one another.  Good for her getting into admin.  Classroom can be brutal.  I'm glad you're interested in English and Creative Writing.  That's where my heart is.

She actually misses the classroom terribly, but at this point my father and I just want her to stick with the admin. stuff.  She's taught for 30+ years and it's time for her to get ready for retirement, so this is better... of course, she missed "her kids."  How cute is that?!
