Film Noir Marathon - Lineup
« on: April 19, 2007, 09:41:12 AM »
A combination of 'essential' and overlooked noir films... based on research, what we've seen and haven't seen, and the counsel of a PhD candidate at Iowa whose focus is noir.

Double Indemnity (1944)
The Killers (1946)
Out of the Past (1947)
Gun Crazy (1949)
The Asphalt Jungle (1950)
Kiss Me Deadly (1955)

GWAR!!!

I think I will try once more to follow along on this one.  While I got burned - no, singed - with Brick, I look forward to seeing where it came from.

Great choices! I haven't seen Kiss Me Deadly, but all of the others are are fantastic films.

I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts on Double Indemnity.  It's one of the movies that made me love film and it's the first movie I saw in my highschool Film History class... :)

I just TiVo'ed "The Killers" last night, completely at random, because it sounded interesting.  Weird.  Hm.  Maybe I'll play along with this marathon.

The delivery of Fred MacMurray's lines in this film is amazing. Quintessential Noir dialog!

I guess you could make a case for one of them being overlooked.
