Top 5 Help
« on: May 02, 2005, 01:32:16 PM »
Hello everyone,
Sam and I haven't promoted this forum on the show yet, so I'm not expecting much of a response at this point... But we're having trouble coming up with a Top 5 topic for this week. All we can come up with that relates to "Kingdom of Heaven" or "Crash" is Top 5 Epics. Frankly, a lot of the movies that qualify as epics -- Ben Hur, Spartacus, etc... -- Sam and I haven't seen.

Any suggestions? Thanks! -Adam

potential top five lists
« Reply #1 on: July 05, 2005, 05:43:40 AM »
Judging by my colleagues and I waste hours discussing in the office on Friday afternoons, the following should yield lots of stupid arguments and happy reminiscing:

Top Five Bond movies - usually descends into a vitriolic debate on who is the best Bond, the best Bond Girl, the best Bond villain etc.  (Perhaps a rather British obsession?)

Top Five caper movies - For me, the original The Italian Job and The Sting are definitely in there

Top Five MacGuffins e.g. The Maltese Falcon and The Big Sleep

Top Five War movies - Patton, Lawrence of Arabia, Catch 22, Apocalypse Now, The Quiet American.

(For cynical Brits, you get a sub-category - Top Five Movies Where America rewrites History and Saves the World e.g. U-571.)

Anyways, I hope that helps, and I really like the show!
Bina.

My top top four would definitely be:

3)  The Longest Day
2)  Saving Private Ryan
1)  M*A*S*H

Also I'm a new listener love the show.
