Lil' Wayne - Tha Carter III

I also picked up Alan & Richard Bishop present: The Brothers Unconnected at their show Sat. night

Also Rook by Shearwater is fantastic.

Immense!

Good call. I love Shostakovich

It's a great one, too - the Russian male choir are pretty damn frightening at times :)

Lil' Wayne - Tha Carter III

I just ripped this from a co-worker yesterday on the strength of the reviews.  It's awful.  The state of popular hip-hop today is just embarrassing, save for Kanye West, (occasionally) Jay-Z, and a small handful of other guys.  Otherwise, it's all about the ones who aren't in the iTunes top ten.

Erykah Badu - New Amerykah Part One (4th World War)

I've always admired her more than actually liked any of her stuff.  I really like this album.  It's a total concept album and wasn't designed for radio play but if you're a fan of Funkadelic or post-Purple Rain Prince, you'll like this.

Weezer - Red Album

I heard Heart Songs, cringed uncontrollably, and stopped listening.  I remember the days when people were grumbling about Maladroit and Muppet videos... what happened?   ???

Yes, Tha Carter 3 is disappointing.  I'm really not sure if Lil' Wayne is capable of making a truly great album.  His mixtapes are awesome though.

I'm glad someone else shares my feelings about Heart Songs.  Just an absolutely terrible song.  Jim DeRogatis was proclaiming it one of the best songs of the year on Sound Opinions and I'm guessing the R. Kelly trial was on his mind, clouding his judgment.

Heard lots of great things about the Badu album, gotta check that one out.

Give the late J Dilla a try: he's excellent.
