i still have two or three that must been seen.

same here.  There Will be Blood tomorrow or Saturday and hopefully Diving Bell right after that.  Then I should have seen all the big names.

Wish I could join you, karl. The next two weekends are packed for me. I'm sure I'll see everything before voting though.

I need to get away to the local theater to catch Into The Wild then There Will Be Blood. I will not feel good about my list until I catch those two. But then again there's Diving Bell, Jesse James and Sweeney Todd... GAH!

I got There Will Be Blood for Saturday and maybe, for Sunday, Atonement.  If I can see those 2 films, I will start work on my Filmspot 2007 list.  Still, it won't be my official, final list that is likely to come in Feb. or March.

I don't suspect I'll be happy with my list for at least 5 years, and probably not even then.

I'm not surprised to see you rank I'm Not There so high considering you're a big fan of Dylan. I enjoyed it significantly less than you did. It's more of a cerebral experience than anything and those are the kind of films that I admire more than I genuinely like.

Is there any word on the release of Flight of the Red Balloon?

Finally done.

I'm fascinated that you found the rough sex scene in Climates hilarious — it never even occurred to me read it that way.  That's partly because I was distracted that my prediction of ten minutes earlier ("This seems like the type of film that's going to throw in a random scene of violent sex at some point") had proven true, and that bugged me.  Also, I'm surprised that nobody eles seemed to find the photography hit or miss.  The exteriors in the snow were obviously a hit, but most interiors couldn't overcome the diminished presence of natural light.  I also thought the sense of composition was rather poor at times, especially early on...

Incidentally, I think Climates is Ceylan's fourth film, not his second.
