How about a Sergio Leone marathon?
« on: July 05, 2007, 11:38:38 AM »
This would have been a perfect marathon:

1) A Fistful of Dollars
2) For a Few Dollars More
3) The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
4) Once Upon a Time in the West
5) A Fistful of Dynamite
6) Once Upon a Time in America

Six great films. However, Sam and Adam have already discussed "A Fistful of Dollars", but there's still one Leone film left. Probably an overlooked Leone movie, because he isn't credited as the director, though he directed at least half of the movie. He also came up with the story idea. I'm obviously talking about "My Name is Nobody", starring Henry Fonda and Terence Hill. I'd love to hear Sam and Adam review these movies, and so would many listeners I assume.

Hum...I don't know. I have all theses films on DVD and yes, Leone's evolution is a filmmaker is an interesting thing to watch but frankly, all of the westerns are pretty similar. This really is for fans only.

While I do really like the idea, unfortunately I think Adam & Sam (and most of the listeners) will have already seen the vast majority of these films so its not really viable.  But if anybody has missed out on any of the 7 you mentioned, they really should get to seeing them ASAP.

I didn't catch where they talked about A Fistful of Dollars.  Did they mention how it was an almost shot-for-shot copy of Yojimbo?

They didn't.  But they did talk about how original Leone was!

I've been stuck with dial-up for a while so I can't listen to any more episodes.

Its funny, when people talk about Yojimbo they mention Fistful, but when they talk about Fistful they never mention Yojimbo.

Both of these guys play "the man with no name".  Unfortunately, as great as Clint Eastwood is, he's up against one of the few people in the world who is actually cooler: Toshiro Mifune.

I actually prefer Fistful to Yojimbo.

I havent seen Fistful in a long time, just pointing out that Eastwood is coincidentally up against one of the few people who could give him a run for his money in sheer presence, awesomeness, etc.
