Herzog is pretty great/funny in the interview. Be sure to listen to the show outtake as well.

Wow, Herzog is not what I expected at all. He sounds so sweet and enthusiastic. I love how he is so in love with cinema and Fred Estaire movies. I found the bonus interview even more interesting. His attitude towards depicting torture on film is spot on for me. I would have never watched Rescue Dawn if it were another exploitive torture movie like Hostel or Saw. Under another director, it easily could have been. I hope those who criticized the ending of Rescue Dawn also listened to his response in the great interview. Thanks Sam!

Please, interview him again when you're in Toronto and have him do a Filmspotting spot like Boyle and Brewer.

Have him do it in German as well for a foreign fans.

German being the universal language of 'foreigners'?

Oh... I meant our German listeners.

If they get Almodovar one day, have him do his Filmspotting spot en espanol.

We German listeners listen to the podcast in English, we participate on the messageboard in English, so there is no reason whatsoever to interview Herzog in German for us. On the contrary, it was fascinating to hear him do an interview in English for a change. On all of the DVDs of his films I have seen so far, the interviews and commentaries naturally were in German, so it was great to hear him be as articulate and genuine in English as he is in German.

Thanks for a great interview, Sam!

I don't think we need to get worked up about what thevoid said... not that we've crossed into that territory yet. But his suggestion was perfectly reasonable and not mean-spirited.

I didn't mean to take a shot at thevoid or his suggestion in any way! Maybe I expressed myself badly, I just wanted to say that I am more than happy with what I am getting from Filmspotting.

Cool! Like I said, I didn't think anybody was getting too bent out of shape.
