Who is more overrated: Nolan or W. Anderson?
Neither Nolan or Anderson are overrated.
You're entitled to your opinion of course, but Anderson is all about diminshing returns for me. Bottle Rocket was fun enough, but by Tenenbaums he lost me. Too many characters, and they're all the sum of their quirks. With his visuals, he's trying to be interesting by being uninteresting, and, to me, it's just uninteresting and unambitious and easy. Darjeeling has potential, so I'm hoping he can return to form, in a way, though I can't see any masterpieces in his future.
As for Nolan, Memento I mostly blame on Guy Pearce. I just found him to be really bland and uncompelling. The twist, as with the Prestige, wasn't all that surprising to me, and it certainly didn't enhance my experience at all. Have yet to see Batman Begins, but I might get around to it.
