The Limey
« on: August 12, 2007, 11:18:35 PM »
Just re-bought this this weekend.  Lent it to my friends parents...5 years ago.  Watching it now.  Probably my favorite Soderbergh, though I do love Out of Sight (joint #1's?).  I just love the camera effects and editing tricks.  Any other fans?  And where does Soderbergh's # 1 fan, Sam rank this one?

I would like to challenge Sam for that title. I think I am his #1 fan. The Limey is #2 for me.

1. Traffic
2. The Limey
3. Ocean's Eleven
4. sex, lies, and videotape
5. Schizopolis

The Limey is a classic and definitely overlooked.  I'd put it just behind Traffic and right before Out of Sight on my Soderbergh list.  Ocean's Eleven would come in 4th.  The 5th would be a toss up between a few of his other films, including Schizopolis.

I just watched this with the commentary, which was really good. The writer, Lem Dobbs, sounds remarkably like Campbell Scott.

Sooooo good.  I mean, "comes out of nowhere" good.  Easily Top 5 Soderbergh, which is no easy feat.

Well, it does have one of the best unintentionally hilarious line readings in movie history... "Tell him I'm COOOOOMMMMMMIIIIIIIINNNNNGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!" Put that scene on loop and you will be laughing hysterically in a few moments.
