5 Ten Thing I Hate About You (cute, funny, Shakespearean)
4 Elizabethtown (popcorn movie at it's best)
3 Love Actually (I love romantic comedies, but don't tell anyone)
2 Beyond the Wall Sleep (movie based on the Lovecraft story by the same name. Not so good)
1 Final Fantasy: Spirits Within (just plain pretty)

I like all of those movies...except Beyond the Wall Sleep (i have never seen).   Ten Things, Love Actually and E-Town all make me smile.  These movies are like comfort food.  They are not good for you, but you feel good while you are endulging.

1. Practical Magic
2. Monster-in-Law
3. The Truth about Cats and Dogs
4. What a Girl Wants
5. Uptown Girls

You should feel guilty about those.  ;)

That's not even my real guilty pleasures list, that's a decoy, the real one includes Josie and the Pussycats and Spice World: the movie.

You're not alone. I like Ten Things I Hate About You and Love Actually too. Ten Things is the cutest thing and for what it is, really good (imho). Ps. What's wrong with Julia Stiles? Why isn't she a superstar by now? She's one fine actress (again, imho). Love Actually is a movie that either pushes your kitsch-button that lets you enjoy the flick or it makes you puke allover the TV, the DVD-player, the sofa, the wall, the floor, the ceiling, the.. You get the idea.

I don't like Christmas movies, but "Love Actually" makes me happy. That and I love Alan Rickman. "Ten Things" is a very fun movie with some great quotable lines, like:
Walter Stratford: My insurance does not cover PMS!
Kat Stratford: Well then, tell them I had a seizure.

and my favorite:
Kat Stratford: You can't just buy me a guitar every time you screw up, you know?
Patrick: Yeah, I know. But then, you know, there's always drums, and bass, and maybe even one day a tambourine.

Movies traditionally considered "chick flicks" like Steel Magnolias, Notting Hill, etc.

I'm no fan of the genre, but I was surprised at how good Steel Magnolias was when the wife finally made sit and watch it.

Notting Hill is....eh hem....tolerable...among films of its kind. Mostly because of the scene where Julia Roberts character admits to all the work she's had done :)

Don't forget the REALLY NEAT and creative montage (if it even qualifies as such) in which you see a year pass by as Hugh Grant's character walks through the market.

When I'm in a really bad mood (normally Mondays) I watch romantic comedies and smile and laugh and feel better. I haven't seen Noting Hill, But I loved Steel Magnolias. Very heartbreaking and yet gentle and funny at the same time.

Ten Things I hate About you is a genuinely good movie. The non Ledger performances are pretty bad, but it's a very good movie.
I actually consider a lot of movies to be life-changing! I take them to my heart and they melt into my personality.
