Two-Lane Blacktop is a pretty sick movie. I hope you love it.

thanks.  but i haven't been able to disengage from the boards yet, hopefully i start it in the next few minutes...

I'm totally relieved to learn that you haven't had the movie running during all this posting.  I will dry my eyes now.

Today's Netflix delivery, what should I watch, they're all new to me:

Fitzcarraldo
Two-Lane Blacktop
The Wayward Cloud

(i'll admit i'm leaning TLB)

The first two are too fantastic.  I can't decide between them.

TLB it is :)  tomorrow i head to the video store for Contact and SPR :)

no, fitzcarraldo!  two lane blacktop doesn't have a song by glen hansard written after it...

Revisiting some top 20 possibilities (I have seen all of these and I will be watching all of them at some point soon):
The Passion of Joan of Arc/The Iron Giant
or
Raging Bull
or
Treasure of the Sierra Madre
or
In the Mood for Love
or
Point Blank

If you want to want the one that'd be the shakiest Top 20 candidate (for me, anyway), I'd say Point Blank.  For the best candidate, I'd say The Passion of Joan of Arc.  Without a doubt.  And Treasure of the Sierra Madre after that.

TV edition (I need something light and uplifting):

Pushing Daisies (season 1 episodes 4, 5 and 6)
The Black Books (from the beginning)
Tom Jones (BBC miniseries starring Max Beesley, who I usually find quite attractive, and Samantha Morton)

Or should I do film after all and watch Becket?

Pushing Daisies.  i've only seen episode 7, but thought it was fantastic.
But I wish the public could, in the midst of its pleasures, see how blatantly it is being spoon-fed, and ask for slightly better dreams.

Thanks guys, I did watch an episode of Pushing Daisies last night, and it totally did the trick. I had already been further through the season than I had remembered, so it was ep 6 for me last night. Why are there only nine episodes in season one?? I am so going to want lots more when I'm done...

There was a writer's strike last season, so that cut the season short. I'm assuming there would have been more episodes without the strike.

Caveat - I have the passes to Rocker & PE in hand, the other choices would require forging (for those with moral objections).  This is also the final showing available for Thunder whilst PE has a couple next week and American Teen has one on thursday.
