hows about the artist making films route and go with matthew barney or andy warhol (not sure if you have good video shacks at your disposal); i have a yet unwatched VHS copy of Cindy Sherman's Office Killer sitting here

The easier artist making film choice would be Schnabel.

it's true
But I wish the public could, in the midst of its pleasures, see how blatantly it is being spoon-fed, and ask for slightly better dreams.

Tropic Thunder, Pineapple Express, or Hamlet 2?

Taking the wife to the movies tonight. I haven't seen any of these comedies, and we don't have a preference...

I've seen True Romance - she hasn't - does that have any bearing on enjoyment of Pineapple Express?

Haven't seen Hamlet so I'd have to go with TT - of course there is always Bangkok Dangerous!

Not likely. The last Nic Cage film I saw in theatres was Adaptation, and before that one i think it was probably The Rock...

Alright, so say I know someone who really likes and appreciates movies a lot. He has a pretty solid understanding of them and generally good taste. However, this person claims to hate old movies. He hasn't really seen very many, but he can't get excited about them. What is the one "classic" film that will get him to start loving old movies (most likely black & white)?

B&W - Casablanca
Coloriffic - Singin' In the Rain has been very on my mind lately

Good suggestions. I was considering these, until he said, "There's no CINECAST!ing way I'm going to like Casablanca... and I hate musicals". They're still options though. Thanks.

How about a Hitchcock? Strangers on a Train or Notorious? (Or, hey, Psycho is black and white, too.)
