I swear sometimes they just spin a wheel to make decisions in Hollywood. 500 days was awesome but what makes anyone think he can handle a 150million super blockbuster? I am not saying he cant, but the decision making seems so random.

Giving a talented young director an opportunity like this is the kind of move most people want to see studios make. I'll be the first to call them on the endless stupid decisions they make, but when they take a risk like this why not cut them some slack?

I can see that but I guess it seems like a stretch to me. Has he even worked with CGI before?  I am sure he will do great I am just commenting on the totally random nature of Hollywood decisions.

How do you make a film worse than (500) Days of Summer? It's tough, but sign on for Spiderman and you just might have a chance!

Well it can't be any worse than Spider Man 3.

We can't all be haters. Well, except for David Hayter.

Like Gavin Hood going from Tsotsi to Rendition to Wolverine.
Karyn Kusama going from Girlfight to Aeon Flux.
Chris Weitz going from About A Boy to The Golden Compass.
Jeremiah S. Chechik going from Christmas Vacation to Benny & Joon to Dianolique to the mega-budget The Avengers.
Chris Nolan going from Memento to Insomnia to Batman Begins.

...oh wait.

David Hayter is still the man.

I love th fact that they have one writer crafting a trilogy from the beginning and one director who will lend a singular vision to all three. I am now very excited for the Spider-man franchise.
