The Mist
« on: November 07, 2007, 12:59:13 PM »
I know it's not out yet, but I wanted to put it in this thread for later discussion.  Is anyone else excited about this besides me?  It looks great and just like the book.  I just read the book and I hope it has the same bleak ending.  From reading CHUD.com they are saying this thing is good.  I hope so, it's Darabont doing something different.

I was thinking of checking it out. I received a screening invite for it today, but I doubt I can convince Tweedle Dee to go along with me.

That would be cool if you guys reviewed it.  But I doubt Adam will want to.

Stephen King film adaptations seem to be either really good or really bad - I'm curious about which way this one will go. From the preview it still looks like it could go either way? I'm too much of a wimp to check out the film myself, so I'd love to hear a review . . .

If it's half as good as The Green Mile ... well, that's gonna be one awful movie.

Stephen King movies (and books) often fall apart at the end. But The Mist is an exception, at least in book form. That being said, IT and The Shining are the only "scary" SK books that have worked well in film form. The really good ones are not scary but dramatic. Lets hope this can change the pattern.

I'll be checking it, mostly due to my Moviecash from my Planet Terror dvd.

I enjoyed the novella, but the trailer looks really bad to me. I'm sure I will check it out on dvd.
What? What are you talking about? It's girls and spaghetti. We love girls and spaghetti.

So did anyone see this?  I saw it and loved it.  It follows the novella really well.  There were a few changes but they were for the better.  They managed to make the ending even more bleak than the novella's ending.
