Filmspotting Book Club
« on: November 09, 2007, 09:32:12 PM »
The purpose of the book club is to read and enjoy! So, if you love books, and you're ready to discuss them... you're in the right place. Here is how it works:

1. Join the club- Everyone is welcome. Sign up to be a regularly contributing member and you can help choose the book titles and be a discussion leader.  Now is the time to join, but new members can jump on board any time.

2. Pick a book- Book club members will take turns choosing titles and being discussion leader. Once we have interested members, I will set up a schedule. When it is your turn to be discussion leader, you'll choose the book title and lead the discussion surrounding your chosen title. It is recommended that you put up a poll of the titles your considering, to gauge interest. However, if you are set on a title, go ahead and put it out there. Start a new thread titled, "FBC: [Insert Book Title]."

3. Read and discuss- Once the title is chosen you'll have three weeks to read the book and post your comments in the appropriate thread. The discussion leader should encourage readers by posing questions and responding to readers' posts.

We'll choose our first discussion leader one week from today. Who is ready to read?

Current Members:

Here is the discussion leader order:

I am (I've got nothing but time).
But I wish the public could, in the midst of its pleasures, see how blatantly it is being spoon-fed, and ask for slightly better dreams.

I'm always ready to read. :D
Strikeouts are boring - besides that, they're fascist.  Throw some ground balls.  More democratic.

IF I can find the book suggested, then I'm in.  (I'm not counting on that though.)

Ooh, I'd love to do this, but I think I'm maxed out with the book club I'm in already - but if you are reading a book I've read, do you mind if I jump in once in a while?  :)

Who is gonna lead first? I'm about to start No Country for Old Men; how many of you would like to read that?
