Inception music can make anything seem super intense.

Obviously I am very saddened by the passing of Satoshi Kon, he was a great director and he will be missed.

Oh gosh, I leave for a few days and look what happened.  This is tragic, Kon had an important niche in world cinema, he made anime that was explicitly for adults and really pushed the medium in exciting new directions.  With Miyazaki retiring (crossing my fingers for the Porco sequel) we are losing our best traditional animators.  Condolences to the family.

RIP mr. Kon.
I’ve lied to men who wear belts. I’ve lied to men who wear suspenders. But I’d never be so stupid as to lie to a man who wears both a belt and suspenders.

same sentiments here - i've had my head/face/brain in a book for 2 weeks and when I finally come up for air, I get kicked in the stomach. Huge, huge loss. He made really wonderful films. Definitely will be missed.

Anyone have an inkling if The Dream Machine is finished and just in post-production, or if it is unfinished in terms of material?

French Filmmaker Claude Chabrol Dies at 80

RIP.  He made some of my favorite movies which I had the pleasure of revisiting rather recently.  As other write-ups will note, he played an important part in the reevaluation of Hitchcock.

Can I get 5-6 Chabrol films that are a good introduction to his filmography for a marathon? I would like them to span his career as well, if possible. Thanks.

And Resnais, Varda and Moullet.

A Girl Cut in Two, Chabrol's next to last film, is on Instant Netflix.  I was going to watch it this week.
