Very rarely do I tear up at the death of a celebrity but The World According to Garp, Good Morning Vietnam, Dead Poet's Society, Awakenings, The Fisher King, Good Will Hunting, Mrs. Doubtfire, One Hour Photo, Insomnia, Aladdin, The Birdcage, Hook, Jumanji...

A huge part of my youth and then young adulthood were those movies. I used to want to have a friend like the genie when I was a kid and as I grew older I got to see him in different types of roles that I could appreciate as I grew up. I used to think everyone could use a Sean Maguire in their life. I can't even string some poignant thought together. The world lost an artist. I don't mean to presume anything about his depression, but I wish he could've seen himself as I and so many others saw and will continue to see him as.  :'( :'( :'(

I've made no secrets about my feelings about Robin Williams.  But even though his style of comedy wasn't my cup of tea, I do recognize that what he did, he did very, very well.  And this is a very sad end, for anyone.

"Mork and Mindy" was a big favorite in my youth, as was Popeye.  There was a time when I was very fond of The World According to Garp, and I really liked his "non-Robin Williams performance" in One Hour Photo.

I listen to a lot of comedians on podcasts, and no one ever had a bad word to say about him.  He sounded like a hell of a nice guy, despite his struggles with substance abuse.

Wow, growing up with Mork and Mindy, then onto his wide array of performances, it has always been a pleasure to watch him (yes even in Patch Adams). Vale.

Heard them say it on the radio last night and almost ran off the road.

Such a terrible loss for the world.  Such a generous, brilliant, wonderful man.

My favorite films featuring Robin Williams:

One Hour Photo
Good Will Hunting
The World According to Garp
The Fisher King
Awakenings

Twenty years ago Mrs. Doubtfire would have been on that list.  That's no longer the case, although  several of the scenes are a testament to his comic versatility.

I think One Hour Photo best channels into his darker, sadder side.  An amazing performance.

I rented Insomnia the day before he died, coincidentally.  Haven't brought myself to watch it.  Might have to hold off, get it again some other time.

Sara: Good-bye, father Isak. Can't you see you're the one I love? Today, tomorrow and forever.
Isak Borg: I'll keep that in mind.

You want to see him at his comedic peak, then watch this from 1982.

Lauren Bacall

They say they come in threes, so I'm wondering who's next?
