She was so youthful and a pleasure to watch even though she was 90. The Gleaners and I was one of the first movies I watched because of the forum. Very sad day.

Yeah despite her advanced age, losing Varda hurts a little.

I'm so sad about losing Varda. I know she was 90, but she was still working, still thinking about current life, still interested and interesting. She was a hero, a light on this planet.

Varda was a joy.  Although it feels that the world is now missing a bit of the charm and grace, her films are with us.  She deserves another marathon.

I found it interesting in Faces Places that Varda is friends (sorta) with Godard, since I find their attitude towards cinema to be at polar opposites. I guess they're both feeding their curiosity, but hers leads her to a state closer to birth while his is a medical autopsy.
