James Lipton is one of those people I never thought I’d meet. When I discovered Inside the Actors Studio I thought I was the only one who knew of this marvelous interviewer’s existence on television. Then he was improbably cast in Arrested Development.

He was exactly the smart, cultured, humorously stuffy/fussy person you saw on his show. The man was his legend. A highlight in my career.

Him and his show were definitely a formative part of my early cinephilia. RIP.

I thought Max Von Sydow would forever cheat death. I was wrong. :’(

Look at the headline, how sad that they had to throw Star Wars in there.

I might need to watch Three Days of the Condor and Snow Falling on Cedars this week, along with some Bergman. Or maybe I'll finally catch up with The Emigrants and The New Land.

What are your favorite Von Sydow performances?
