If you are an immigrant, it is best to just stay away from the United States.  We create homeless through high rents, reject helping them and prevent non-profits from helping them.  The US has no interest in providing a context in which human rights can be legal.  They don't even give a nod to them.  They criminalize poverty.  This is an evil place.

In response to the student demonstration over the past week (regarding the Parkland shooting), the Florida legislature, instead of addressing issues regarding the death of children, immediately rejects the ban on assault weapons:

https://edition.cnn.com/2018/02/20/us/florida-legislature-weapons-ban/index.html

I'm not surprised, to be honest.

Look, I don't want to do this everyday, but when I woke up this morning, this isn't the headline I wanted to read either. I told myself not to talk about it, don't politicize the matter, but when I did that, inside, I'm going crazy and furious, and it just makes me want to talk to somebody about it and ask, "How could they? How could YOU, America?" I think me and a lot of young Americans demand an answer.

I mean, do they at least stop and say there might be another way to decrease the chances of another shooting? They do not. Do they suggest another bill that would not be in conflict of the second amendment? They do not. They just flat out came out and say, "Screw you kids. You're on your own."

That's all I'm going to say. Now, I'm going to wash the disgust from my mouth, and you (politicians) can just let a few more Americans die before you decide. I guess we'll be having this discussion again (and again) in another month or two.

After a month's absence, I am sure this thread is nothing but joy and laughter right now.

I have never witnessed a moment like Emma Gonzales’s speech today.
Holding space, standing in her power.
I cried with her.
Something changed today.
Hey, nice marmot!

Hopefully those tears will translate to legislative change in the coming years.
I will forever be baffled by the lack of empathy that some people have in this world.
It is so clear that we can only prosper in collaboration and support, yet greed and hate maintain their hold on the world.
