Have any of you listened to We Hate Movies? I'm about to give it a shot. I love the concept, for I also am finding plenty of disdain for a lot of movies. It's a funny thing, because I also love movies (which these guys also do, from what I understand), but I also understand that many provide a distorted image of reality that heavily influence the way people look at the world. I do wonder what they'd say about E.T., The Sound of Music, The Neverending Story, or even 2001, all quite ripe for being parodied. But I haven't heard the show yet, so I don't know if it's more cracking on films or giving them sincere, critical dressings-down. Of course, the features that combine earnestness with major earnings are the easiest targets. Anyhow, too much written about a show I haven't heard yet.
So Chapo Trap House survived my axing of most podcast shows that I subscribe to. For all its faults, it does make me feel like I'm in a room with likeminded people, building up arguments against not just the right, but especially the center. I do wonder if these guys have purity tests for the people they make friends with, as they seem to hate tons and tons of people, but that is their problem and not mine.
Right now, the rotation is:
Filmspotting (trying to listen to every minute of every episode, but will grant that some topics that I have no interest in - like 40's noir - get more of a cursory play...does a good job prepping me for new releases)
Locked on Suns (listen to nearly every episode)
Best of the Left (listen to at least one episode per week based on topic)
Chapo Trap House (listen to most episodes)
