The Tree of Life 10/10
Days of Heaven 10/10
Badlands 9/10
The New World 8/10
The Thin Red Line 8/10
Song to Song 7/10
To the Wonder 3/10

Definitely forcing myself to see Knight of Cups now and maybe revisit To the Wonder. I don't know how I will ever get my hands on Voyage of Time.

I saw Voyage of Time in IMAX which is apparently different than the theatrical run. I honestly think Malick threw it out there to fulfill his contract and then the studio realized that they weren't going to make any money on it. There's a French bluray release but it seems to be no one in the US is rushing to publish it on home video.

I saw it in theaters but not in IMAX... I think it was about 80 minutes ?

It was pretty, but the voiceover was unbelievably grating. It's like the last segment of 2001 if Kubrick had decided to drop some random keywords to "help".

You should watch Days of Heaven. It's only the best film ever made.

I know, but not having seen it is a bit like having some money in a savings account! ;D

Sooner or later I think that the Top 100 Club eventually will have me seeing it.

Badlands
The New World

Knight of Cups
Voyage of Time: Life's Journey

During the first hour of The New World, I really thought I was seeing his masterpiece, but then it dragged and then Christian Bale showed up, which meh. Still quite good though, and it's a testament to how rotten Hollywood is that Q'orianka Kilcher didn't get to be a movie star.

I watched the extended version of Tree of Life in dribs and drabs over the past several days. Not my preferred way to watch a movie, but I'll give this cut an 86. Some nice bits added, but on the whole it felt a little too on-the-nose and linear, less oblique than the film I fell in love with. To be honest, it made me question whether I even wanted the original still in my top 100. At the time I saw it as Malick becoming fully realized, but now I'm wondering if Tree of Life (rather than TTW) is the point where Malick starts becoming a parody of himself. Maybe 3+ hours of whispering to God is just too much. I should probably rewatch the original cut, but with the Bergman box coming there's no way I'll make time for it.

I've thought of a few films I'd consider taking off my top 100. Problem is, I'm not sure what I'd replace them with....

I look over my Top 100 and often think there are films there that are perhaps not worthy, but they're better than the next titles in line. Listening to Unspooled's look at AFI's list of the 100 Greatest American Films ever made, I see where my personal love for some titles is what puts them above more obvious Great picks. In fact, I can see something like Godfather II dropping out of my 100 because I get more enjoyment from a Winchester 73 or The Adventures of Robin Hood and enjoy talking about it more.
