I've never seen that film either. Doesn't seem worth it when there are so many more interesting films out there.

I can't believe you will be writing for TheReelists.

With films from Van Sant, Miyazaki, Kubrick, Goddard, Kurosawa, Bergman, and countless others that I have to catch up on, Shawshank seems understandably pedestrian.

To me, ending Shawshank without the beach stuff would be like ending Star Wars when Luke turns off his targeting computer.

Eh. I...uh..er..I disagree!

It's really, really great. If you have TNT, there's no excuse for having not seen at least some of it.

I didn't know The Goddard School started a filmmaking program.

Superiority complex type comments make me angry. Was Shawshank a black and white Tarkovsky film? No. Is it any less amazing because of that? CINECAST! No!

In my film critic days I wrote numerous articles on the greatness of V for Vendetta.  It's amazing, and few people (inc. fans) notice that the entire last third is almost completely montage and cross-cutting.  The editing of the film is brilliant.

The editing was the only thing I liked about it, but I did think that it was worth praising.

The photography in V is amazing and was sadly the last film shot by the late Adrian Biddle.  But yeah, I'm not a fan of that film.
