You're trying to kill the hour before 30 Rock / The Office?  Or do you not watch those, I can't remember.

Someone should tell me what to do.

You should help me think of eloquent things to say to my students tomorrow about Mark Strand's "Keeping Things Whole" (a much more interesting - and philanthropic - thing to do than watch re-runs ;) ):

In a field
I am the absence
of field.
This is
always the case.
Wherever I am
I am what is missing.

When I walk
I part the air.
and always
the air moves in
to fill the spaces
where my body's been.

We all have reasons
for moving
I move
to keep things whole.

Watch the Flyers game and catch up on Thursday NBC online tomorrow.

Hopefully the word 'emo' comes up a lot in the discussion.  8)

I move because one day I will be too old and/or sick to move. Too morbid? I move because I fear fat? Too self-obsessed? I don't think I am helping.

I don't think I am helping.

Maybe not, but you're making me laugh.  :)  And after having my head stuck in poetry all day, I need that. Thanks.

Quote from: Mark Strand
We all have reasons
for moving
I move
to keep things whole.

Reminds me a little of the Bright Eyes song I was listening to earlier today:

Quote from: Conor Oberst
And the world's got me dizzy again
You think after twenty-two years I'd be used to the spin
And it only feels worse when I stay in one place
So I'm always pacing around or walking away

Not the same sense of self-sacrifice maybe, but a similiarly muted, restless, woe-is-me self-pity.  I approve!  ;)
