I don't know if this has been brought up or not, but what about all the movies that were already kicked out that might have won if they were pitted up against some of these movies we are throwing into the mix.  How does that play (or maybe it doesn't at all) into this new system?

All these new movies will be part of round one (along with the thrity-two previous matchups).  When round one is totally complete (end of the summer if interest stays high?), a yet-to-be-determined number of films will be resurrected to fight another day.

It's the only way to be sure.

It just seems that a lot of the best movies were in the first set of the match-ups and might not have been up against each other if all of these other movies would have been in the mix and therefore those films would have possibly advanced to the second round.  Do you know what I am saying?  I am not at all suggesting repairing these match-ups or anything like that.  I was just musing about how it might have been if we would have started with all these movies.  :)

Yeah, we're going to have a total pool of like 180 movies ... so if, say, 10% get resurrected (I just made that number up), hopefully that will be enough to gets all the (subjectively) deserving films into the second round.

Too late to add to the list? Are co-productions w/ the US allowed?

Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead (US/UK)
To Die For (US/UK)

faceboy's not around apparently, so I'm going to jump in and say yes.

If you've already voted and you've seen To Die For or Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, please message me to let me now what category they belong in on your ballot.

We actually discussed Rosencrantz at some point and said it was too British and not American enough, so I think I'd say we can't let it in. We already have 1 or 2 in that are co-productions that are a bit too not-American. As for To Die For, I don't know how the hell we missed it.

IMDb shows Rosencrantz as being co-produced by New York's PBS station... That's what I went by.

Yeah, but British writer/director and Roth and Oldman along with the UK co-production swings it the other way for me. Believe me, I love the film, but I don't feel right about it and feel like we decided against it earlier one at some point somewhere.
