Only 2 I am certain of Oklahoma! (1955) and The Day of the Jackal. I have only seen parts of High Noon, something I must fix

Eyes in the Night (1942)

I've watched so many detective series' from this era, it's surprising this didn't become one. Edward Arnold plays a blind private detective. This isn't nearly as gimmicky as it sounds thanks to the assured direction and Edward Arnold's terrific performance. He's aided by his assistant Marty (Allen Jenkins, who I always enjoy) and a whip-smart guide dog named Friday. They get involved in a murder mystery that quickly expands into a very exciting espionage thriller. It doesn't have the class of Notorious, but Zinnemann comes closer to that than the Sherlock Holmes, Falcon, Mr. Moto movies I was expecting. A real gem.
RATING: * * *

It appears the series was sabotaged by MGM, who cut corners and replaced everyone but Arnold and the dog with the 2nd film. It did so poorly they suspended the series.

Thanks for that clip. I went back to my Top 100 Review considering reposting it here. Then I saw the link to your review and re-read that. It's interesting that we both are very positive on the film, yet you watched with the opposite mindset about the outcome. I don't want to spoil it for those who haven't seen it - and if you haven't correct this at once - but you mention specific moments as markers of how it would end, and I was so assured of the character's abilities that I remained in awe of his achievements.

I did the same with my original Joss Whedon poll and I'm sure there will be others made by me.
