Whoa, there's no reason for Once Upon A Time In The West to be viewed as anything less than perfect.

Yes. It is the only film which has to be viewed as such.
I actually consider a lot of movies to be life-changing! I take them to my heart and they melt into my personality.

I couldn't help comparing it to GBU, and found the actors less interesting, the humor lacking, the story less compelling, the music less striking, and the film as a whole felt a little bloated to me.  When it comes out on Blu-Ray, I intend to reevaluate it.

I love GBU, but in a few key areas, notably the direction and the music, I found West to be superior.

Is there a better color than dark green?

Not for me.  I just mimicked the Criticker "tier" colorings, except I replaced yellow with orange because yellow doesn't show up very well on this background.

Whoa. When this poll was created, my answer was "Never seen a Sergio Leone film". I removed that vote as I have seen five by now - my pick has to be Once Upon a Time in the West, even though TGTBATU comes close.

Once Upon a Time in the West

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

A Fistful of Dynamite
For a Few Dollars More
A Fistful of Dollars
Once Upon a Time in America

As to the great GBU vs OUaTitW debate...I have to go with the latter. Operatic, artistic and just plain beautiful to watch. What lessens GBU for me, is that Leone totally CINECAST!ed up the historical aspects of the story. Being a military history buff, this just rubbed me wrong.

Masterpiece (100-91) | Classic (90-80) | Entertaining (79-69) | Mediocre (68-58) | Cinemuck (57-21) | Crap (20-0)
