I think the year-so-far is the best option mentioned. I can totally understand why you'd be tentative to talk to him about horror and for some reason having him talk about Brit film just seems like under using the opportunity, but I don't know.

In a way, I think the decision might be easiest to make once you know when, roughly, he'd actually be on.

When is up to us... that's why I'm more interested in topic.

I think I want to avoid horror and Brit stuff... topics potentially of limited interest and hosts with limited knowledge.

The only problem with best-so-far list is that Kermode's list would probably include TWBB, No Country, Diving Bell etc.

Another obvious tie in later in the year would be the new Bond film.

Has he agreed to co-host an entire episode? Indiana Jones would be a good idea, as he's already covered Son of Rambow with Mayo.

I think you should get him to help out with a Top 5 list.

This is the best news I've had all day.

Given that he's still talking about the Spielberg documentary he did, Indiana Jones seems like a good idea.
He's also a big Lynch and Cronenberg fan, if that is of any use to you guys.

I wouldn't have thought there'd be significantly limited interest in either, and isn't part of the point of having a guest so that limited knowledge might be filled out a bit? But, ok, I get where you're coming from I think. I'll concede.  :)

I do like the idea of a top 5 list - most significant films and/or directors of the new millennium or something? His perspective compared to yours and Matty's might be really interesting.

I think having him sit in on the top five is a no-brainer. Could be a very entertaining conversation.

Not really interested in hearing him review a film on YOUR show, Adam. I listen to his show for his reviews. And I already know what he thinks about Son of Rambow.

No, it wouldn't be that.

If you guys can arrange it, an Anthony Hopkins film for massacre theatre could be masterful.

Heh, I agree with myself: a Top 5 list. That way you get value for money, and the chance to hear him talk about films he won't already be sick of talking about on Five Live/Culture Show etc.

He also does a good Fuzzy Bear impression
