You guys should review The Fall.  It looks much more interesting than Speed Racer.  It is the new film by Tarsem who directed The Cell.  It was at Ebertfest.

I got the movie's setup to the Rhodes character... I just think the whole PR shill/active military man gig is a little far-fetched. Could be completely wrong. He was also conveniently everywhere the movie needed him to be whenever it needed him.

You don't believe someone in the military could have a close personal and professional relationship with a defense contractor?

Maybe the media in Iron Man's world just don't bother to report it.

God knows in this "real" world, they only got around to reporting in the last few weeks about the links between the "retired generals" who were acting as military experts on all the news channels during the leadup to the Iraq war, the White House/Pentagon providing their talking points, and their links to military contractors.

I haven't seen the movie, but I not only find it believable that military man could be acting as an industry shill on the side, it's rather timely!

But thats the thing... Rhodes isnt a Stark Shill... he is simply Tony's friend.

And as the Liason between Stark Industries and the military and the head of advanced weapons for the military he would be the guy giving the press conferences and the guy they would call into the command center when crazy new tech appears.

I thought Matty's review of Iron Man wasn't very fair because he was comparing it not to other real comic book movies that have actually been made, but to a perfect fantasy comic book movie in his head, which may or may not be possible to actually create. But the later comment about please just give us Indy and not a wink fest was brilliant, that is my fear also.

Regarding all the social commentary in Omega Man, that's just traditional sci fi. People think of SF as all space ships and lasers, but that is the fault of Star Wars. Prior to that it was a lot about social commentary and philosophical questions.

Ed Wood was a bomb? Yeah, that probably would have been my #1(If I had a top 5 favorite bombs) with ease.

Oh, and good show, as usual. I haven't gotten around to seeing Iron Man yet, but I am looking forward to it.
