Definitely, the best line-up of films that won the Best Picture Oscar in that decade.  Yet, I went with The Godfather.

And it was based on a Coppola script as an added bonus.
Yea, seems like this was the best period for Coppola.

The Godfather - unlike Kane it actually is the greatest American movie of all time.
Sunrise is better than both.

Agreed.

For this list I'm going with Annie Hall. I just adore it

The one I enjoy most would have to be Annie Hall.

The Godfather would be good it it didnt insist on itself so much.

I went with Deer Hunter, a great movie, with great actors.  The only war movie I can think of that doesnt use battle carnage to entertain.
I’ve lied to men who wear belts. I’ve lied to men who wear suspenders. But I’d never be so stupid as to lie to a man who wears both a belt and suspenders.

I cannot begrudge you that, in fact I nearly picked Deer Hunter over Godfather for very similar reasons. Ultimately the impact of Godfather let it win out.
